PROSTHODONTICS
Prosthodontics is the dental specialty principally concerned with the restoration and replacement of lost or injured teeth. Sometimes called the architect of the smile, prosthodontists are profoundly trained specialists with an exceptional understanding of the elements that get into a beautiful smile not only the teeth, but the gums, lips, and facial characteristics. With it comes to planning and leading a full-scale smile makeover, a group of dental experts is regularly required; generally, that group is captained by a prosthodontist.
Crowns and Bridges
Dental crowns and bridges are dental prosthetics that are used to restore decayed, damaged, or missing teeth. Crowns are like caps that fit over the top of a natural tooth to restore it once the decayed or damaged tissue has been removed. Dental bridges are composed of one or more dental crowns with a pontic, or fake tooth, bonded in the middle. Both crowns and bridges are fixed prosthetic devices. Contrary to removable devices like dentures, which you can take out and clean every day, crowns and bridges are joined onto existing teeth or implants, and can be removed only by a dentist. As their name suggests, a bridge spans over the gap left by a missing tooth.
Inlays and Onlays
Inlays and Onlays are indirect dental restorations used when a filling is not enough, but a crown would be too much. Since they are indirect restorations, they are fabricated by a dental lab from gold, porcelain, or resin. Once formed, the inlay or onlay will be bonded to the affected tooth. If aesthetics are a factor, it will also be matched to the colour of the surrounding tooth structure. Because inlays and onlays are customized for each patient, they are stain-resistant, tend to last longer than traditional dental fillings and could be a better option for some people.
RPDs (Removable Partial Dentures)
Removable partial dentures ordinarily comprise of replacement teeth connected to pink or gum-shaded plastic bases. Depending upon your requirements, your dental specialist will plan a partial dental replacement for you. A partial dental replacement may have a metal system and fastens that interface with your teeth, or they can have different connectors that are more natural-looking. At times, a removable partial dentures replacement is made to join to your common teeth with gadgets called precision attachments. Precision attachments are commonly more esthetic than fasteners.Crowns on your natural teeth are in some cases expected to improve the access of a removable partial denture and they are normally needed with attachments. Partial dentures with accurate attachments, for the most part, cost more than those with clasps. Talk with your dental specialist to discover which type is ideal for you.
CD (Complete Dentures)
Complete dentures are replaced teeth for when all your normal teeth have been eliminated. Complete dentures are full-inclusion oral prosthetic gadgets that replace a total curve of missing teeth. It comes in two kinds. You can wear immediate complete dentures for a few months while you wait for your gum tissue to mend. From that point forward, you can get traditional complete dentures.
